Bennett Bean: Distinguished Artist Series Weekend
Saturday, December 08, 2018, 9:30 AM to Sunday, December 09, 2018, 3:00 AM EDT

Bennett Bean

Distinguished Artist Series

Bennett Bean refers to himself as a "quintessential polymath", a talented maker in many media.
Best known as a ceramic artist, Bennett's colorful, gilded pieces are widely admired.
Much of the work in these pieces is done post-firing, when Bennett applies paint and metal leaf to the earthenware forms.

Much like the layering on these pots, Bennett uses his accumulated experience in art and life to add depth, texture, and light to all his projects. Whether he is creating a pot, a garden, a house, or a line of furnishings, these are all endeavors to examine, enrich, and beautify the world around him.

About the Distinguished Artist Series

Four times a year, the James Renwick Alliance brings notable American craft artists from around the country for the Distinguished Artist Series. Each DAS weekend includes a Saturday workshop and free Sunday public lecture at which the artist will discuss his/her technique, background, artistic influences, and career.
