Tim Harding: Distinguished Artist Series Weekend
Saturday, March 09, 2019, 9:30 AM to Sunday, March 10, 2019, 3:00 PM EDT

Tim Harding

Distinguished Artist Series

In describing his work, fiber artist Tim Harding uses words more applicable to painting and photography. He speaks about pixels and light/shadow, figure/ground, and references the Pointillists or Hockney and Rothko. However, working with fabric freed Harding from the constraints of the stretched canvas, allowing him to experiment with a "pliable plane" where he could create layers and textures and explore ways of "violating" long-held traditions of cloth-making.

Harding brings together elements of fine art and applied art to create textile pieces that defy categorization and allow them to be considered for their intrinsic beauty.
