Explore from the South shore to the North shore in this exciting new JRACraft trip to the Boston area! Experience world class institutions and private guided tours. Visit notable galleries, see one of the top private collections in the country, and meet nine contemporary craft artists making waves locally and nationally.

Included: 2 dinners, 4 lunches, 1 breakfast, museum admission, ground transportation and organizing fees
Not included: Airfare/travel to Boston, Hotel lodging

tentative itinerary

wednesday, july 20 
2:15pm Meet in the hotel lobby for a welcome and bus
3:30pm The Fuller Craft Museum hosts us for a private catered dinner and tour of the Marilyn Pappas Retrospective with the artist
​7:00pm Visit the stunning private collection of Chris Rifkin 

Thursday, july 21
10:00am Join us a the Museum of Fine Art (MFA) Boston for exclusive access to look at Studio Jewelry from the MFA collection with curator Emily Stoehrer in the Textiles and Fashion Arts study room before visiting the Farago Craft Gallery.
11:30am Lunch at the New American Café.
1:00pm Enjoy a talk from Tess Fredette, Senior Textile. Conservator at the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum.
3:00pm Step into the life of jewelry artist and collector Efharis Alepedis at her private home.
5:00pm Meet artist 
Napoleon Jones-Henderson at his mixed-media exhibition I Am As I Am—A Man at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Boston
6:15pm Dinner


Friday, july 22
9:00am Breakfast at the Lucy Lacoste Gallery, see an amazing selection of ceramic work and hear a presentation by artist Paul S Briggs.
11:30am Artist Mark Del Guidice welcomes us to his home, where we enjoy a light lunch. 
1:30pm Wonder through the stunning De Cordova Museum. See work by basket maker Jeremy Frey inside or stroll through the world renowned outdoor sculptures.
3:00pm Shop jewelry and hand crafted items at the Monique Rancourt Gallery.
​4:30pm Tour the Metalwerx galleries and studio and hear from master jewelry artist Cindy Eid.
6:00pm Dinner on your own.

​Saturday, july 23
9:00am Explore the Brickbottom studio visit and see textiles by George Summers Jr., wood sculpture by Kim Schmahmann, and mixed media sculpture by Jessica Straus.
12:30pm Lunch at Mobilia Gallery with presentations with a few fabulous artists.
2:30pm See the intricate glass glass flower models at the Harvard Museum of Natural Science
4:00pm Nearby at the Harvard Ceramics Gallery, Kathy King will provide a tour and speak to the group about the center and we will hear a talk by artist Kyle Johns.
6:00pm Dinner on your own

​Sunday, july 24
9:00am Travel to the Peabody Essex Museum where we will receive a tour with the curator and will have a presentation from one of the collector's who has contributed to the museum's collection
12:30pm Tour the studio of trip organizer, Laura Petrovich-Cheney
1:30pm Enjoy a farewell Luncheon at The Corinthian Yacht Club before driving back to Boston along the shore
​4:00pm Arrive back to Boston for Departures

All trips are subject to cancellation or rescheduling at JRACraft's discretion based on local or national conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. If a trip is cancelled or rescheduled, all participants will be notified promptly and offered the choice of a full refund of the trip cost or the opportunity to participate on the new dates (if the trip is rescheduled). Cancellations by the guest must be made in writing one month in advance of the trip for a refund, less the designated donation to the Alliance and any incurred fees. Cancellations less than one week in advance are non-refundable.
