Glass

To create this design, the glass is first cut and designed, then fused in a kiln at 1440 degrees. The process takes 14 hours from start until you can touch the glass. It is then put back into the kiln at a lesser temperature to slump the glass into the form chosen. This is a separate fusing process which is generally 1260 degrees and takes another 14 hours from fuse to cool. After that the glass is cold worked with various tools or sandpaper for the finished product. The big reveal is always a welcome surprise to see how the raw glass has transformed in the fusing process when the kiln is opened at the fusing finish.
