Current volunteer opportunities:

Media and Marketing Committee

Committee Chair:  Cass Johnson

The Media and Marketing Committee is responsible for promoting the JRA's activities, as well as assisting other committees with communications and public relation techniques. Volunteer members should be interested in at least one of the following:

  • Researching, cataloging, and summarizing past JRA contributions, awards, and gifts
  • Developing new outreach lists for press releases and web postings 
  • Maintain the JRA social networking pages, increase followers, keep the pages current
  • Writing press releases and blog posts
  • Video production and editing
  • Working with SEO, Facebook/Instagram and Google advertising
  • Brainstorming and exploring new ways to promote JRA activities

Development Committee

Committee Chair: TBD

The Development Committee is responsible for all fundraising efforts of the Alliance. Volunteer members should be interested in at least one of the following:

  • Researching funding resources and opportunities
  • Developing a grants calendar and drafting grant proposals
  • Brainstorming and exploring new ways of securing future funding
  • Devising and recommending fundraising development policies to the board

Programming Committee

Committee Chair: TBD

Ensure a robust annual programming schedule at the James Renwick Alliance by volunteering with the Programming Committee. The committee is responsible for generating event and program ideas; providing preliminary research assistance to aid program coordinators; and designating program coordinators to plan and execute programming. Volunteer members should be interested in at least one of the following:

  • Hosting quality craft-based events in the DMV and in coordination with national craft conferences and symposiums
  • Brainstorming and exploring new and diverse programs
  • Scheduling a well-rounded and balanced calendar of craft activities
  • Assisting with the marketing of JRA programs
  • Researching potential craft-related programs
  • Contacting vendors and partners to execute programs
  • Organizing event itineraries
