Craft Quarterly - CAll for CONTRIBUTIONS AND WRITER SUBMISSIONS
The James Renwick Alliance for Craft celebrates and advances American Craft and craft artists by fostering education, connoisseurship, and public appreciation through programs, educational trips, recognition of excellence in the field, and publications like our JRACraft Quarterly. If you have an idea for an upcoming issue, please submit an abstract or story idea below (100-150 words).
The thematic descriptions are not intended as limitations, and we welcome contributions on the theme that offer diverse perspectives and/or expand the framework articulated.
Writers selected for publication will receive a $150 stipend and a JRACraft membership for one year, along with 3 issues of the JRACraft Quarterly.

This issue will explore ways in which craft in America attends to the impact of humankind on the environment and the ongoing/growing threat of climate change.
- Articles might probe questions such as: How are artists adapting their practices to think through making in a world with so many disposable objects? How might their practices call attention to policies that promote the use of more sustainable materials? How are art museums, schools, and other organizations interpreting the concerns climate change? How are they assessing the impact of acquiring, storing, restoring, and producing works?

This issue will examine the notions of familiarity as well as the personal and private within American craft practice and its history.
- Articles might explore what it means to know an object closely, the ways in which practicing craft demonstrates intimate knowledge, and/or the potential of intimate works, installations, or practices within craft discourses.

This issue will focus on craft practices and projects centered around reframing ideas, histories, and/or narratives.
- Articles might address questions such as: How can objects challenge the viewer to reconsider longstanding notions and/or ideals? How are artists using materials to examine hierarchies within art and craft discourses? How might histories of art schools, museums, and/or galleries be reframed to reveal systemic biases?
